Build the future of legal work in Europe.

Job description

Legal AI is only as good as the knowledge behind it, and at Lefebvre Sdu we have been building that knowledge for 200 years. Day in, day out. Law by law. Word by word. We do it so carefully that other legal AI tools run on our data and software. From our Dutch office, we are also building our own platform for Lefebvre Group, Europe's leader in legal and tax knowledge: GenIA-L, which already accounts for more than €100 million ARR across Europe. Over 75,000 professionals use it every day, and we build it to the standard their profession demands. We are looking for a Senior Product Owner to decide how we live up to that standard.

HOW YOU MOVE US FORWARD

An AI that sounds plausible is quick to build these days. An AI you can verify, with a source, a validity date and experts who keep the knowledge behind it sharp every day, is a far bigger challenge, and that is exactly where the market will separate the serious players from the demos. You make that difference visible in the product. Our ambition is about the work itself. We're building GenIA-L into the workflows of lawyers and tax advisers, so the right knowledge surfaces the moment they need it and they can future-proof their practice. That means you help change how an entire profession works. You own a domain of the platform, from discovery to launch and then the question that really matters: did the customer get value from it? You define the outcome before the solution is on the table and turn proposed metrics into real numbers with a baseline. And when there's bad news, everyone hears it from you first.

Our existing customers are moving onto the platform, and a customer who has been migrated but isn't using it doesn't count as a result for us. You make sure they actually start working with it. At the same time, you protect what sets us apart: everything the platform delivers is traceable, and we treat that as a product responsibility. You also set the standard for how we make product decisions. As sparring partner to our VP Product & Tech and mentor to the other Product Owners, you're the one who makes trade-offs explicit. The platform is running and the direction is set. How the profession will work with it starts with your next decision.

Job requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You know what it takes to build a product, and what starts after launch. You've run a real backlog with engineers, made choices under pressure and moved a product forward on data and user feedback. You get a lot of responsibility here, but not automatically the final word. Our Product Owners work across content, commercial and 5 craft disciplines, without those teams reporting to them. So you need to set direction, bring people with you and justify choices without escalating every time. And you step in while we're in the middle of a change. We're moving from content subscriptions to software. Not everything is settled yet, and that is exactly why we're looking for someone who brings structure, dares to make choices and keeps building in the meantime.

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in SaaS, and you have taken at least 1 product from discovery to launch and kept developing it afterwards.

  • You have taken ownership beyond your own team and built products or solutions other teams relied on.

  • You have pushed decisions through on the basis of data, including when there was resistance.

  • Experience with AI or ML is a plus. We're mostly curious how you measured and improved quality when something wasn't working.

  • Knowledge of legal, tax or professional services is a plus, and something you can also learn here.

  • Professional-level English, spoken and written. Dutch is a plus, given our Dutch customers and content.

WHAT YOU'RE SIGNING UP FOR

You join the team of Richard Leijen, VP Product & Tech, and have a voice in the strategic choices around GenIA-L. Day to day, you work with developers, UX, legal engineers, subject-matter experts and commercial. The team is small, the lines are short and your influence is big. You start with 1 domain and grow in scope as you dive deeper into AI products. And because GenIA-L is used across Europe, the impact of your choices reaches well beyond the Netherlands.

  • A good base salary and a standard 36-hour working week.

  • A year-end bonus of 4% of your gross annual salary and variable profit sharing of up to 6% of your gross annual salary.

  • 23 days of annual leave and a personal benefits budget of 12%: 8% holiday allowance and 4% to spend as you like, for example on extra days off.

  • A solid pension scheme through PGB, including additional partner insurance.

  • A travel allowance of €0.25 per kilometre or a public transport allowance, plus an attractive bike scheme. Adjusted arrangements apply if you live less than 10 km or more than 60 km from the office.

  • Hybrid working: 2 days a week at our office in The Hague, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • Room to grow. In your craft, in your role, in the organisation.
